No Man is an Island

First, let’s give friends a meaning. For me, friends are your companion in every single time or more. Friends are those who help and give opinions to what you are doing. True friends are those who remember you in happy and sad times.

We can find friends everywhere, most specially, in school. We can find different kinds of friends.  In these places, we build our different relationship from other people, too.
I believe in the saying that “No man is an island”. It means that each of us needs friends to survive.  We need someone to lean to when we’re in sorrow and hardness. We need them to complete our missions in life.

What must we do to have friends? Simple, we must be friendly! But being friendly does not exist; we also need to do good things. However, the friends that we thought our friends might be good or bad, so we must be careful.

I have many friends. During my elementary years, they used to be my second family. We are so close that all of us cried in our graduation. I had mentioned them in my speech also. They mean a lot to me. When I had no money to buy my snacks, they gave me food. When I had many things to do, they help me. When I am sad, they made me smile.

I’m used to that situation so, when I entered a new school, I was very afraid to be alone. Un fortunately, that goes around a week. I am so sad because I am the only person in the room who have not talked to anyone on that time. I don’t know why but maybe I’m just shy. Later on, I also tried to reach out to them because they will be my companion nowadays.

In my first year in high school, I already had a circle of friends. Belongs to this group are Geraldine, Celestino, Mariano, Samantha, Ij, Kent F. and Kent M and of course, me. We cannot escape the fact that there will be conflicts(like Mariano and Sam) and crushes( like Geraldine and Celes). Mariano always tease Sam and Ij. Kent F. is the most childish in the group, she often call me “ate” even though he is older than me. One of our bonding moments is studying during break time. We also do the game ‘dare2x’ and we eat lunch together sometimes.

I enjoy with my new friends but I would not forget my old true friends.

The Most Wonderful Gift

I thank God for giving me the most wonderful gift....This is my complete family...I feel very blessed everyday because I have them in my life. They are the one who comforts me every time I feel so down. They are my strength and shelter whenever I face a big battle in my life....

Ever since I was born, I never experienced being far from my family with a long period of time. Though there were times that my father needs to go for business and working purposes, it will just take a day or two. And even if we are complete as a family, sometimes we are also having problems but we overcome all of these. And because of these trials and challenges that we've been through, our family became stronger and more healthier.

So guys, know my family...My father, our breadwinner and our very loving companion, Mr. Leandro Lejarde; My mother, the light of our family, that without her we might have a very noisy and dirty house, Mrs. Sherly Lejarde; My two sisters; Caryl and Denise Lejarde, my bestfriends, they are the one who made me realize that small things are also important.

My family and I always hang out on our yard. We often eat our "merienda" and talk with each other in the yard.
We also go to mall when we have extra money. Our parents always find ways to give what we need. In this way they show that they love us so much. In return, me and my sisters study well so that we can make them proud by having an award or honor in the class....

Further description about my mom. She is amazing, beautiful and a an awesome cook. She loves dresses and bags. She is also wise in terms of family budget. I am her companion in marketing, this is our best bonding. She is sometimes a dragon when we don't do our tasks in the house but she is a good listener for your problem. She  loves to do charity works. Those clothes that we do not use anymore are given to our neighbors or street children, that is an example of her charity works.

About my father. He loves us more than anything but there are times that he feel that we doesn't care about him and I don't him to feel that. He is a very hardworking man, he doesn't go home without a money or food for us. He is also my pillow whenever I cannot sleep well. He is also my companion whenever I have a complicated task to be done.

My sisters are both studying in a private school. We are sometimes enemy and sometimes friends. Our bonding times are eating our favorite biscuit together and playing before going to sleep. I love them so much and I want them to be always safe and healthy.

This is my family.....This was taken last Dec. 25,2011, Christmas Day...

And I describe my family like a tree....

...because they served as my trunk which is my strength, my leaves which is my shade, my roots or where I came from and most specially they are the one who gives me air so that I can live...

Technology,Part of My Journey

As I find my way to my journey, I have also encounter many things.....As time passed by, things are
improving...This is the effect of the invasion of science and technology...Over the years there are many enhancements on each thing...Would you believe that a million years ago, they are just using stones and woods and they can already make fire!!But now, we cannot make it without the match, right???

WE are changing the world with technology. In our generation today, most of us cannot survive without an aid of technology.  Do you remember when people used to send messages through the use of the “pony express”?   Or when people used to get up from their couch to change the channel of the television?   I can’t imagine how people could live without modern technologies such as cell phones, internet, and many more.   Technology today has made life easier and quicker but dangerous.

Even a three-year old child today is already aware of computer games and many students are crazy playing online games also that would cause them to cut classes. Online games such as "crossfire"and "DOTA"has invaded the minds of the youth nowadays. The light bulb, the telephone and electricity certainly must be counted as some of the greatest advancements that prove the advantages of technology.  But in other hands, this materials have made us create traits that are far good. Simple things such as paper and pencil emerged from sticks scratching in the dust, only to be replaced by keyboards and electronic devices.

But, aside from the effects of technology, what is technology and where did this begin???Let's try to discover this thoroughly....

  • Technology is a broad concept that deals with a species usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects a species' ability to control and adapt to its environment.

Technology just begun from the early people. Their clothing and food preparation are already part of

technology. It then improved by the intelligent people like Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein.

With their equation and inventions, some people already have the idea to make things that would make their

life easier..

Look at the boy!!! He is stock with many gadgets. But these things would not make our lives better...

But technology has also contributed good things to us. Such that we can explore and learn more about the world where we live....

My Experiences in First Year

Summer already ended up. Our vacation has also ended up and we'll now face another responsibilities as  students...
June 14, 2011, first day of class and everyone is excited to meet new friends. I woke up early, fixed my things, eat my breakfast and wear my favorite clothes. I had mixed emotion at that day; nervous, excited, afraid and ashamed. I do not know what will happen on my first day in this new school of mine(St. Dominic Savio School). So, together with my sister, we headed to school at 6:30 in the morning. We find our names in every section. Then, I saw my name at the door of  I-Silver. I was asking myself ,"Can I do this?".
But even  if I am a shy girl, I still try to make friends with others. First person that I met is a new student in this school also. She is Johainna Mae Dano. We introduced ourselves to each other and started talking.
When the bell already rang and we need to get inside, I was very nervous 'coz they might not like me.But I really need to be with them because they are my new classmates and I am really working with them throughout the year....
There are different faces in our section. There were serious, naughty, quiet, jolly, rich, beautiful and handsome people in this room. Some are old students and some were new. And like any other class, first day is expected to be a getting-to-know day, so we had activities that would help us to be comfortable with each other.
This went through all over the week  but I still have the feeling of shame to jam with this new kind of people. But I am not here studying in a private school just to have many friends but to learn great things from the great teachers. So, I  put in my mind that this feeling of mine must be erased.
We all know that we go to school to study and learn lessons. So after those getting-to-know days, regular classes occurred. Here I Go again having the feeling of shame coz I am now going to have a new type of understanding due to new type of teaching, as well as the schedule too. At first, it made me very curious to know what type of teaching is in this institution. I asked from my old student classmates and even to my second year sister.
As the days passed by, I started to adopt the environment and the type of teaching in this school and the shame thing started to fade and the confidence took place. With this confidence, I started to show off who I really am. Just like my elementary years, I work hard to achieve the trust and impression of the teachers. It was really an great change to me. It was a back to zero job that I did.
Going back to my new classmates, I do not really think that they would treat me just like my previous classmates did. I owe their respect and trust as they slowly found out my capabilities. I also began to found their better side.
It was very challenging to me that there were examinations and different activities every month. On July we have our Nutrition Month. At the first time, we worked as a group for our Jingle Contest. Though we did not win we are still happy because somehow we made our adviser(Mrs. Wencille Embate) smile. It was a memorable event for me cause I also had contributed a lot for that activity.
August, it was our "Buwan Ng Wika". This month is the celibraton of our national language, which is "Filipino". There were different contests. These are the contest in "Awit" and the contest in "Tula". There was elimination round for each level and naturally there must be a representative from each class. For the Awit, we voted for the room singers, Renelyn(we often call her Mama Ren) and Sharmane. For the Tula, they don't know who would they choose to be the representative. Though I want to be the representative, I did not volunteer coz they might think that I am a "feeler", just as what they say to those people who volunteers. So, I just had a silence on my side and what a great surprise of mine when I heard my classmates saying my name.
"No! Don't that!", that's what I said when they started to scream. They also selected others students so they had a votation. I was having a mixed emotion at that time, happy and afraid that I might have hard time practicing for this event. Fortunately and unfortunately, I was selected to be the representative of the Tula Contest. I had there full support and trust. They trusted in me that I could bring the bacon.
I had no choice but to accept this and I put in my mind that if I would win in this competition I could bring pride to our section. Just like their full support, I also gave my full effort. And fortunately, both of us won. And until at the Final Contest I won the 1st Place and Renelyn and Sharmane won the 3rd Place.
Aside from this indoor activities, we also had our outdoor activities like Educational Tours, Youth Camp, Recollection, Variety Show and Sportsfest.
Through these activities we made our bonding as a class even closer. We also made our good and bad memories out of these activities.
Of course, we must not forget the memories inside the room. The issues, crushes, conflicts and boring times. As a class, we faced many issues, one of these is when our boys are being involved in a clan. Part of our lives also are the crushes that I  also experienced. With this crush matter, we are able to made love teams.
Conflicts are not excused in our room, too. There are times when most of us were tired and stressed and there would be some who are very naughty and noisy. Who would not be angry if that would be the case? There are also times in a group that we're not able to understand each others opinion.
The most fun memories were built from the times where we don't have teacher. We find it very boring so we find ways to have fun....We do this by having jokes, nerd dances and playing fun games.
After all these fun, there are also things that some of my classmates hate that for a matter of fact, the real thing that we encounter in going to school, these are: quizzes, projects, assignments, note taking, oral and written exams.
Whoooaahh!!!!!Life in school is really a wheel, fun memories, sad memories, sometimes tiring and sometimes stressful. But combine all of these memories and you can a make a strong foundation if you will learn from these memories. Even if we are still in the First Year, we must also have our goals not just having fun....
Being on top and being in the bottom are part of this journey. So if we experience being in the bottom, don't lose hope to strive instead make it as your inspiration to work with great determination.
